I don't think its quit the same figures, i was looking at them before the yaris. They might have a bit more, but heavier.

nope.

Toyota Yaris is 1NZ-FE:
The 1NZ-FE is a 1.5 L (1497 cc) conventional Otto cycle variant of the 1NZ-FXE. It has the same bore and stroke, but the compression ratio is lowered to 10.5:1, and it features VVT-i. Output is 80 kW (107 hp) at 6000 rpm with 141 Nm (103 lb·ft) of torque at 4200 rpm.

Suzuki Ignis is M15A:
The M15A displaces 1.5 L (1,490 cc); bore is 78.0 mm (3.1 in) and stroke is 78.0 mm (3.1 in). The M15A used in the Suzuki Ignis(HT81S) has a higher compression ratio of 11.0:1, and produces 83 kW (113 PS; 111 hp) at 6400 rpm and 143 N·m (105 lb·ft) at 4100 rpm.

Its a quirky car and the Ignis Sport is well specc'd, has wide arches on too. Coxy had one for a few months after he crashed the T-Sport. Pretty cool cars, parts are extremely rare and even more expensive than Yaris bits.

a friend of mine had one briefly, came standard with some decent recaro's and didnt look too bad in black i thought, but after having a go in it i'd stay clear of it personally, felt really high and sluggish as hell

Thats not bad looking. But i like how the Yaris looks kinda timeless but on the Ignis you see its from the late '90 early 2000.

I had an Ignis Sport before getting the T-Sport, it's actually still sat on the drive with ether a screwed big/small end which I keep meaning to look at. Pissed off seeing as it had only done 70k <_<

The cars are remarkably similar in terms of performance, the t-sport is much more refined and looks better. The Yaris does tend to understeer more but that could be down to the crap tyres on at the moment. I did think about lowering it but liked the rally look with the flaps and white wheels.

My Ignis Sport,

i got the yaris t-sport mk1 and a friend of mine bought a black ignis sport recently.
i think the car looks pretty square and old fashioned(even that his model is 2005 and mine is 2003).
from inside, other than the recaro seats nothing special, it looks even more simpler than my yaris.

just a quick question:
ignis sport uses 98octane fuel(recommended by the manufacturer) and has a compression ratio of 1:11.
yaris t-sport uses 95octane(in my country) and has a compression ratio of 1:10.5.
why the so samll (0.5) ratio difference makes the ignis go noticebly faster on 98 octane?

I just wanted to see if a 0.1 sec advantage of the ignis matters that much, and the 98 octane makes a difference.
So me and my friend with the ignis went drag racing :)
To make it fair we both put 98octane, i had a half tank and he was full. I weight 20kg more than him. The only difference was i have a custom made cheap ebay air filter that goes near the fog light, and cut 2 small holes so he can get more air.
Results: took him by half car was the worst case, and most of the time i was 1/1.5 car ahead.
No other mods were made in each car.
Mine is a 2003 model with 170k km. His is 2005 model with 102k km.
He replaced his spark plugs to manufacturer adviced iridium ngk, mine are stock that i needed to replace 10k km back... (will change them asap).

Just wanted to tell you this info if relevant.

Yaris force all the way!
