Take your new speakers (Must be 6.5" to fit) and screw them to your new spacer with suitable screws. (Should be provided with spacer)
Make sure it's all secure, then place it on the door and line up the holes from the spacer to the old rivet holes, and make sure your speaker isn't too deep.
Then, wire up your speakers by removing the old connector and attaching speaker cable to speaker cable connector things (The Autoleads adaptors come with cables to attach to the original connector)
If you've got binding posts, just snip the wires off and plug them in like so:
Then:
Rivet the thing in place! I'm sure you could just use suitable screws, but this finishes it off nice!
All you got to do is press the rivet in, and use the rivet gun to fire it in and fix it in place.
Do this for all of the three rivet holes, and voila! you have a new speaker on your door!
Re-Connect the speaker adaptor and give it a test!
Now, whilst the panel is off, plenty of people would recommend using sound dampening/re-enforcing stuff like dynomat or whatever it is, I didn't, and it still sounds brilliant!
BUT!
What I will say, is that you should take a roll of duck tape (gaffer tape) and stick it on the flapping blue plastic, as this can cause very annoying rattles and vibrations in the door. Just put a bass-heavy track on, and see which bits are most offensive, then tighten the plastic and tape the stuff down!
Now, getting the door back on can be a little tricky! The main things to be careful of are the window seals, and the door lock mechanism (I snapped my passenger side clip!)
- Re-Connect the electric windows, then lift it onto the top of the window seal, and slowly lower it over the locking mechanism
- Then, with a fair bit of force, press down and in near where the black triangle was, (Making sure the rubber sill is over the window one)
- You should hear and feel it click in, then work your way down and around the door, banging the clips in, until it fits lovely!
- Then put the crappy plastic screws back in (take the screw bit out, and press the holder in first) Then gently tighten up.
- Then screw in the last two proper screws and voila! Door is back to normal!
Now, do exactly the same for the passenger side, except, where there are two plastic crappy screws on the drivers side, on the passenger side, there is one on the passenger side, and one weird pop-in thing.
Press this in gently and get a screwdriver behind it to pop it out, and it'll come out when you take the whole door panel off (and probably fly into your car so you can't find it!!)
Once you've done the passenger side, you should have a much, much better sound in your car, far more detail (I did with my speakers anyway)
