Do I need to change antifreeze fluid?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I have been driving 1.3L MT version Yaris for nearly a year from brand new. Not suire if I need to change the antifreeze fluid.

I checked some reference mentioning after 150,000km, which I am not certain about. So, any advice is welcome.

Thanks in advance.

No you dont, it should be at least 2 years before recommended to change. If they use long life antifreeze from factory then it should last 5 years, pink colour i think. So you are fine, love to afford a brand new car like you

You can always tell the washer fluid because it has the wiper symbol on the blue cap cover. So the only other thing that looks anything like it will be the header tank. Ive read different things about coolant. Some say that it never really in reality needs replacing, others say that it should be done every two years.

I also noted, as someone mentioned above the 'Toyota long life coolant' (pink, 5 years). This shouldnt be mixed with other kinds of coolant, so if you are changing or topping up make sure its the same stuff or completely flush the system out using a garden hose first.
